Role Overview

The Media Marketing Specialist will use photos and videos as well as other marketing materials to help communicate to current and prospective clients, what it is that we do and what differentiates us from others in our industry. This role will ensure that all J. Fries Landscape & Design as well as all Premium Landscape Supply media is displayed in accordance with our vision and values.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process Videos & Photos – The Media Marketing Specialist will create videos, photos and other representations of our work and the level of quality we require in order to exceed our clients’ expectations.

  • Safety videos – Utilize content from management and the team to create and present safety videos to team members.

  • Social Media Management – Through software and resources of the team, re-establish and maintain a strong/steady social media presence. The Specialist will enjoy learning about and implementing new trends in digital marketing.

  • Update and maintain company websites – Ensure relevant content is added and maintained on all company websites.

  • Search Engine Optimization – Research and implement search engine optimization strategies to build a strong brand presence in the local area. Additionally, this role will measure and report our digital traffic using Google Analytics.

  • Email campaigns – Implement appropriate client email campaigns

  • Community Engagement Events – Plan and execute relevant events for our local community, clients and employees.

  • Print Marketing Materials – Ensure all print marketing materials are accurate and aligned with brand standards.

  • Special Projects – as a small company there will be times when it is necessary for the Media Marketing Specialist assist with other functions.

  • Communication – Strong written and verbal communication skills giving the ability to communicate effectively with staff, clients and prospective clients in alignment with our company values.

  • Organization & Prioritization – In order to manage multiple competing priorities at the same time, it is critical that the Media Marketing Specialist be organized and able to flex as priorities change.

  • Attention to Detail – The incumbent must have a exercise strong attention-to-detail ensuring that all marketing materials are accurate, timely and relevant.

  • Professionalism – Not only will the Media Marketing Specialist need to be professional in their written and spoken word, but they will also need to project professionalism and confidence when interacting face to face with clients; either on the job site or at the yard.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license

  • Willingness to work in adverse weather, at irregular hours and in fast-changing conditions

Job Description: Field Operations Manager
Work Location: Report to J. Fries Landscape site for rollout and then field based primarily serving the north hills

Direct Reports: Lawn, Landscape and Hardscape teams (Approximately 5-8 crews)

Role Overview

The Field Operations Manager will be responsible for leading our lawn, landscape and hardscape teams. For landscape and hardscape projects the incumbent will prepare for each day, conduct efficient and thorough morning rollouts, set up new projects properly, client communications, checking in on and motivating the teams, and ensuring a proper close out when a project is finished. For the lawn teams, the incumbent, will ensure routes are planned and followed in the most efficient manner while adhering to our high standard of professionalism. The expectation for this role will be approximately 80% in the field (direct hours) and 20% administrative (indirect hours).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clients – On the job site, the Field Operations Manager will be a face of the company to our clients. This position will serve to set expectations, ensure adherence to standards and directly build rapport and relationships reflective of our company values. Professionalism and attention to detail are critical to ensure each client is satisfied and would refer their friends and family to work with our companies for their lawn, landscape and hardscape needs.

  • People Management – This role will provide direct leadership for lawn, landscape and hardscape teams to include, but not limited to expectation setting, detailed instructions, teaching new skills, coaching for improvement, discipline when necessary, documentation of performance, rewards and recognition, etc. Our Field Operations Manager will be a leader that our team members want to follow.

  • Production Calendar – Working in coordination with the sales function, the Field Operations Manager will maintain and update the production calendar as new projects are added to the pipeline, weather dictates, and workforce availability. The production calendar will be maintained set and updated in a monthly and weekly format.

  • Safety – The Field Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining a culture of safety within our workforce. While this role is responsible for holding regular safety meetings on relevant industry topics and ensuring PPE is worn while working, they will ultimately be responsible for building a team that thinks about safe movements before they are made and how safety permeates every area of our work.

  • Equipment inventory and maintenance – In partnership with our mechanic team, the Field Operations Manager will report any equipment that requires service immediately when necessary or by the end of each shift. When applicable, the Field Operations Manager will assist or direct the team to assist will small maintenance items for optimal function.

  • Administrative – After rollout and any new projects have been set up, the Field Operations Manager will complete hours verification for each team member for the previous day ensuring accuracy and allocating them to the appropriate project. Will participate in invoicing and reviewing daily team reports.

  • Technology – The Field Operations Manager will be a skilled user of technology such as What’s App, Google Translate, GPS, Photos, Video, etc. They will help teach our teams to understand the value technology provides and train them on proper use.

  • Snow Program – The Field Operations Manager will be responsible for the winter season activities. This includes working with the hiring team to recruit and train drivers, watch the weather and plan for storms, execute on the plan when weather arrives and ensure all equipment is clean and serviced at the end of each storm.

  • Sales – Though sales is not the focus of this role, there is a potential to earn bonus on enhancement work.

  • Operation – Ability to proficiently operate a truck and trailer (forward and reverse) as well as the ability to teach others to do the same. Experience operating heavy equipment such as, but not limited to skid steer, excavator, mulch blower, mulch mule, mini skid steer, stump grinder, chipper, commercial mowing equipment, truck, trailer, snowplow, wheel loader, backhoes, dumpster trucks, forklifts, etc.)

  • Ability to lift 40-80 pounds regularly in a safe manner.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license

  • Willingness to work in adverse weather, at irregular hours and in fast-changing conditions

  • Continuous Learning – The incumbent will have a desire to continue growing their skills and knowledge

What may be difficult about this position:

  • Hours of Work: Very busy between March-July. Not that every day will be dawn to dusk, but in our industry the March to July timeframe is our busy season and we work long days sometimes. There will be flexibility in this role, but it will be a two-way street.

  • Spanish and English speaking workforce – The ideal candidate will be willing to speak some Spanish as many of our crew members do not speak English as their first language.

  • Having multiple priorities and jobs going at one time in different areas.

  • Holding teams accountable to JFL standards.

  • Motivating employees

  • At times you may disappoint a customer by not being able to start their job at the planned time

Summary Description

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for maintaining the financial reporting, systems and procedures for the following companies; J. Fries Landscape Inc., Premium Supply, Transit & Dumpster L.L.C., and related holding companies as well as other occasional projects. The incumbent will enjoy taking on new challenges, creating processes from scratch, refining current processes, as well as building systems and maintaining organization in a fast paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

As an Accounting Manager, you will learn the operations of our businesses in order to be successful in your role. You will be responsible for applying fundamental accounting principles and analytical skills to process accounting information completely and accurately, including, but not limited to:

  • Systems – Take ownership of QuickBooks and other existing systems while building new systems and processes to ensure best practices are established and adhered to going forward. Ability to Add to, create or make suggestions to the Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks. Research, implement and maintain Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool.

  • Procedures – While building processes and systems, the Accounting Manager will develop and document procedures for how to fully utilize those processes and systems implemented.

  • Reporting – Compile and process staff expense reports. Utilize strong attention to detail when managing and balancing the general ledger. Manage the Income statement and Balance sheet for all three businesses. Create and manage a cash flow plan for each business. Provide a written review of the financials on a scheduled basis.

  • Accounts Payable – Process all invoices from vendors and partners using dual verification to assure payment. Create, write, and document a firm Accounts Payables process.

  • Accounts Receivable – Generate billing from the QuickBooks system for clients to assure timely payment

  • Payroll – Compile and prepare employee hours and timecards for bi-weekly processing. Meet regularly with accountant and leadership team.

  • Inventory – Ensure all product and equipment inventories are accurate to within 24 hours. Build relationships with vendors in order to successfully review and negotiate better terms.

  • Other Requirements as Assigned – Specifically the Accounting Duties Master List and all updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting

  • 4 years of experience with general accounting or bookkeeping in a small accounting department

  • Experience with QuickBooks

  • Proficient at the Microsoft Office Suite as well as the Google set of offerings

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Outgoing and friendly approach to client and team interactions and communication

  • Flexible and adaptable to dynamic priorities and assignments

  • Ability to lift 10 pounds regularly and 20 pounds occasionally in a safe manner.

  • Ability to attain reliable transportation to and from work and a strong attendance record.

  • Commitment to work well in a team and follow direction from leadership.
